Quincy is a small town in the heart of beautiful Plumas County, high in the Northern Sierra. Located on the Plumas National Forest, and just 1.5 hours away from both Reno Nevada and Chico California, this picturesque, rural community offers an exceptional quality of life for those who enjoy a slower pace, all four seasons, outdoor recreation, and scenic open space.
As the County Seat, Quincy has a historic downtown with small shops, a movie theater, art galleries, and a locally owned and operated brewery and outdoor equipment store. Public lands with world-class trails surround the mountain valley dotted with ranches and neighborhoods. The Bucks Lake Wilderness and Pacific Crest Trail are a mere 10 miles away making for easy day trips and weekend adventures. With Spanish Creek meandering on the edge of town and many nearby crystal-clear lakes, fishing, swimming, and boating are other popular activities. Nearby, Lakes Basin Recreation Area provides stunning opportunities for hiking, camping, fishing, mountain biking and more. 30 miles east of Quincy, in Portola, the Feather River Food Co-op (our 2nd store) serves the growing scenic communities of Eastern Plumas County.
Plumas County has character with culture! World famous events like the High Sierra Music Festival makes this place charming and eclectic, while rodeos, small farms and ranches, and Farmer’s Markets keep it grounded. An active local arts community provides theatrical productions, art shows, and concerts.  Quincy  is a working town with a large lumber mill, cattle ranches, and Feather River Junior College (renowned for its agricultural programs). For families with kids, educational options are available with public, charter, and private schools serving the community with high standard academics, outdoor education programs, and school gardens.
Quincy is located in the Feather River Watershed, the largest watershed in the Sierra Nevada, and is home to the native Mountain Maidu. Come visit! We know you will love it.
